The Hive Labs

Engineering entertainment — problem, CAD, build, payoff. DIY shop and studio fit-out on camera. YouTube @TheHiveLabs.

What the channel is

The Hive Labs is Brandon’s maker / YouTube brand — not a SoftCase product page, not an art hub. Format lock: engineering entertainment (not tutorial homework). Cadence aims for about one long video a week plus a few Shorts.

Problem → Onshape → build → payoff

Format

Start with a real constraint, design it in Onshape, build something you can hold, then show the payoff. Disclose gifts and sponsors on camera. Guest builds only with signed releases.

Build-out is the series

Studio arc

Early episodes plan a workshop and studio on a budget. After the first workbench, fit-out — layout, power, lighting, shop setup — is the arc itself: DIY on camera, not a contractor phase finished off-screen.

First videos

Launch order from the channel plan. Film early episodes at home or on the bench — don’t wait on a lease to start.

  1. We’re building a workshop and studio on a budget: the plan
  2. How we chose a space: rent per sq ft and the tradeoffs
  3. Touring a basement shell — or skip until there’s a tour
  4. Our first build: a workbench
  5. Then fit-out is the arc — layout, power, lighting, shop setup as ongoing episodes
